Nancy
Calhoun, a native of the Fort Wayne, Indiana area,
has performed as Principal Piccolo / Third Flute for the Lima Symphony Orchestra
since 1996. Nancy began her professional playing career at the age of sixteen
when she joined the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra, where she played piccolo
until 1981. In addition to orchestral performance, Nancy has regularly performed as a member of the Jaenicke Consort chamber ensemble since 1991 and has also actively performed with many other chamber ensembles and theater orchestras in the Fort Wayne area, including: The Appleseed Quintet; Nagano Trio; Fort Wayne Civic Theater Orchestra; Purdue-Indiana Theater, and The First Presbyterian Church Theater. Nancy supplements her performance endeavors by providing private instruction to a diverse group of students throughout the Fort Wayne area. Nancy has attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory at CCM where she won the Baur Instrumental Scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from Indiana University, where she was a student of James Pellerite and Kay Borkowski. She has also studied flute with Albert Saurini and George Hambrecht, and piccolo with Jack Wellbaum. |
